Summary of Work Experience

Career Evolution: I had a long career as a DJ and Program Director in rock and alternative radio. Because I spent so many years writing, voicing, and producing commercials—as well as editing radio station websites—the transition from radio to writing was a natural thing. It’s what I've been doing since 2006, and I love it. Most of my projects involve writing and editing short and long-form copy for digital/print/radio/TV.
Content Clarity: I’m a big fan of clarity…in life and in copywriting. There’s no point in throwing around a bunch of industry jargon or the latest marketing catch phrases if the audience doesn’t understand or connect with it. The goal is to get my clients more business, so everything I write for them is voiced for their target demographic and conveys the most compelling information in a way that’s easy to understand. I also really love synthesizing a ton of information and sussing out the most important aspects of it all to create a concise and compelling piece. I like things to be organized and logical, so it’s satisfying to “toss out” things that aren’t needed.
Client Distribution: I’ve created marketing material for all kinds of businesses in the 15+ years I’ve been in content management. The national companies I've worked with include Capital One Bank (10 years), Hampton Inn, Krystal, Ace Hardware, Gander Mountain, Dollar Tree, Elizabeth Arden, Doubletree, Applebee’s, LA Fitness and Princess Cruise Lines. I’ve also had plenty of experience writing for smaller clients in just about every industry out there: restaurants, real estate companies, day-spas, software companies, hospitals and other medical facilities, car dealerships, financial institutions, retail stores, construction firms, even funeral homes. If someone’s making money doing it, I’ve probably written copy for it.
Education: Virginia Commonwealth University, BS. Virginia Tech post-graduate work. Here's my full resume.
